John Ellis is Associate Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy at the University of Michigan. He has served as Chair of the Piano Department as well as Associate Dean forAdministration and Associate Dean of Productions, Programs & Partnerships. He is in demand as a recitalist, master class clinician, adjudicator and lecturer. His performanceshav...e included recitals at Indiana University, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, Westminster Choir College in New Jersey, the University of Hawaii, and the Universityof Iowa. He has lectured at major national and international conferences including The National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (Chicago, IL), Music Teachers National Conference (Kansas City, MO), the Sibelius Academy and the University of Helsinki (International Conference on Musical Signification). He has recorded the piano music of African-American composer Arthur Cunningham and has published in the American Music Teacher, Acta Semiotica Fennica of the International Semiotics Institute.
