Digital Edition FAQ


Q: Why are you publishing a digital edition?

A: Clavier Companion is committed to keeping up with changes in media delivery and
consumption. The digital edition has many advantages. It allows subscribers to access
a new issue on the day it is published, and to access it anytime and anyplace from their favorite electronic devices.

Q: What is in the digital edition?

A: The digital edition will contain ALL of the content of the print magazine as well as
many enhancements to the print content. The digital edition will look just like the print
magazine, but users will be able to navigate directly to articles using an active table of
contents, link directly to websites mentioned in articles and ads, and view video and
audio files included with select articles. Readers will able to search the magazine for any word, save it to a computer for offline reading, print pages, insert notes and bookmarks, and share pages via e-mail. As we publish future digital editions, they will be archived and easily accessible from the current edition.

Q: Is the digital edition replacing the print edition?

A: No. The digital edition is an enhancement to the print edition, not a replacement.
We recognize that many of our readers prefer to receive and read the magazine in a
traditional print format.

Q: Why are you restricting access to the digital edition?

A: Restricted access will maintain the value and integrity of Clavier Companion, and
it will protect the investments of our paid subscribers. It will allow us to continue to
provide the quality articles and content you’ve come to expect.

Q: How do I access the digital edition?

A: Visit, and click on this issue’s cover. This can be done
through any web browser. If you wish to read the magazine on your iPhone or iPad,
download the free Clavier Companion app first. You can then purchase issues through the Apple Store, or simply login to read issues if you are a current print subscriber.

Q: How will I login to access the digital edition?

A: There will be a login screen that will ask you for your e-mail address, and a number from your mailing label. Clear instructions and an image to direct you to that number will be present on the login screen.

Q: Will I need this number every time I login?

A: There will be a “remember me” function you can select that will retain your login

Q: What if you don’t have my e-mail address?

A: If we don’t have your e-mail address on file, or if the computer doesn’t recognize your e-mail address, you will be asked to contact our fulfillment company and provide your e-mail address. Once this is on file, your account will be activated and you will be able to access the digital edition. Clear instructions will be available on the login screen.

Q: How do I read the iPad edition?

A: Go to the iTunes store and download the free Clavier Companion app. If you are a
print subscriber, you will login with your e-mail address and the number found on your mailing label. If you are not a print subscriber, you will have the opportunity to purchase single issues or subscriptions directly from the app. 

Q: Is there a native version for Kindle, Nook, or other e-readers?

A: Not at this time, though you can access the digital edition through the web browser
on any of these devices. Clavier Companion is considering these platforms for future

Q: I already subscribe to the print edition. Will I have to pay for the digital edition?

A: No. The digital edition will remain free for print subscribers, and there will be no
additional charge.

Q: Can I purchase a digital-only subscription?

A: Absolutely. For those who wish to read the magazine only in a digital format, digital subscriptions will be available for sale. Regular digital subscriptions can be purchased through any web browser, while iPad or iPhone subscriptions will be purchased through the Apple Store.

Q: What is the price of a digital subscription?

A: $12.99 for a one-year (six issue) subscription. Individual issues can be purchased for $4.99. All prices are in US Dollars.

Q: How long will I have access to my purchased issues?

A: Once issues are purchased, you will be able to access those specific issues
indefinitely, even if you choose not to renew your subscription or purchase future issues.

Q: What if I am unable to login?

A: Contact information for technical support and customer service will be easily
available on the login screen should you have any trouble.
